Dana + Billy // Moody Winter Wedding at the Riggs Washington D.C.

There’s something so magical about a winter wedding in Washington, D.C., especially when every detail feels intentional. Dana and Billy’s wedding at the Riggs DC was the perfect blend of timeless style, rich color, and meaningful personal touches. It was warm, inviting, and effortlessly elegant from beginning to end.

Earlier that morning, Dana and her bridesmaids spent the sweetest time getting ready together. They wore matching pajama sets, with Dana in white and her girls in navy. It was such a cute nod to the navy bridesmaid dresses they would wear later that day.

Inside Riggs DC, the ceremony space was transformed with dramatic navy velvet draping. It framed the altar beautifully and completely set the mood. The deep navy paired perfectly with the venue’s historic architecture.

Steelcut Florals brought the design to life with vibrant red floral arrangements that felt bold, romantic, and unexpected for a winter wedding. The rich blooms created a striking contrast against the navy draping, making every photo feel effortlessly editorial while still feeling intimate and inviting.

Following the ceremony, guests made their way to Café Riggs for cocktail hour. As one of the most iconic spaces within the hotel, it offered the perfect setting for everyone to mingle while enjoying amazing cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before the reception began.

Once it was time to get dressed, Dana stepped into a timeless strapless gown with the most delicate floral pattern, while her bridesmaids changed into elegant navy dresses that perfectly complemented the wedding design. Billy and his groomsmen completed the classic look in black tuxedos, creating a timeless aesthetic that fit the day beautifully.

When guests entered the reception, they were welcomed into a space that felt both cozy and sophisticated. The navy draping carried over from the ceremony, creating a seamless transition into dinner. Steelcut continued the vibrant red floral design throughout the room, tying everything together beautifully.

The tabletop design was one of our favorite parts of the evening. Tan velvet linens paired perfectly with black bentwood chairs for a look that felt classic with just the right amount of contrast. Every place setting featured a bold red patterned menu, adding another fun layer of color and personality to the design.

One of the sweetest details of the day was Dana’s take on escort cards. Instead of traditional place cards, she hand-sewed every guest’s name onto their dinner napkin. Not only did they help guests find their seats, but they also became the sweetest keepsake to take home. It was such a thoughtful and personal touch, and one that guests absolutely loved.
