Lindsey + Nick // Whimsical Spring Wedding at the Salamander, Middleburg, VA

Lindsey & Nick’s wedding day was the epitome of a whimsical spring wedding! From the colorful florals and wisteria covered arches to the playful details sprinkled throughout the day, every part of their celebration felt so perfectly them. We had the best time bringing their vision to life at the Salamander, and creating a day that was as unforgettable as they are.

Steelcut began the day by bringing Lindsey & Nick’s ceremony vision to life. Their cathedral arches, covered in cascading wisteria, were absolutely beautiful outside. Before the ceremony, the couple used the floral installation as the backdrop for their first look and private vows. It was such a meaningful way to enjoy the design before guests arrived.

Once they finished, the team moved the ceremony backdrop into the ballroom for the rain plan. Even indoors, the florals looked just as beautiful. Arrangements lined the aisle and led guests toward the altar, framed perfectly by the wisteria covered arches.

After the ceremony, guests gathered for cocktail hour and enjoyed Lindsey & Nick’s signature cocktails. The espresso martinis and matcha margaritas were both huge hits! Alongside the drinks, guests enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres and beautiful food spreads. Salamander’s famous pony cupcake joined cocktail hour, and made its grand entrance to greet everyone.

For their escort wall, we came up with a fun concept that Blissful Designs brought to life. Inspired by some of the couple’s favorite scenery, we wanted to incorporate their love for the mountains in a playful way. We created chairlift escort cards, with each guest’s name on one side and their table number on the other. It was such a fun detail that felt personal to Lindsey & Nick and brought a little piece of their favorite places to the wedding day.

The reception took place beneath a clear top tent, and needless to say, it screamed spring. As soon as you stepped inside, the space felt fresh and full of life. The scent of flowers filled the tent, creating that unmistakable feeling of a beautiful spring day.

When Lindsey & Nick walked into the tent for their room reveal, they were completely overjoyed. Seeing their reaction made every design detail even more special and reminded us why we love bringing our couples visions to life.

Tulips, one of Lindsey’s favorite flowers, were a major part of the reception design. Clusters of tulips hung from tulip lamps above the head table while additional blooms were scattered throughout the tabletop.

Hanging wisteria also framed each bar, giving the floral installations another moment to shine. The bars themselves were custom painted periwinkle and paired with custom bar backs. And if that bar back looks familiar, there’s a reason!

The design was inspired by Lindsey & Nick’s invitation envelope liner, created by Breault Studios. Carrying that pattern from their stationery into the reception was such a fun way to connect the details throughout their wedding day.

One of our favorite details was tucked into one corner of the reception tent: the post office.

Lindsey & Nick hand wrote letters to each of their guests for them to pick up throughout the evening. In return, they asked guests to write them a letter on the back of one of their engagement picture post cards.

Guests could then place their notes into the mailbox for Lindsey & Nick to read after the wedding. It was such a thoughtful and creative idea, and guests absolutely loved participating. It also gave the couple something incredibly personal to take home and enjoy long after their wedding day.

Because Lindsey & Nick are huge sports fans, incorporating that passion into the wedding was a no brainer. We created custom basketball hoops featuring each of their college logos. Guests could play throughout the night, adding a fun and unexpected element to the reception.

As guests found their seats, they discovered another thoughtful detail waiting for them. Each place setting featured a layered menu that doubled as a place card. Each flower layer also revealed a different course on the back, making the menu both beautiful and interactive. It was such a fun way to introduce guests to the evening’s menu while adding another colorful detail to the table.

Lindsey & Nick had two cakes on display, each one bringing a little more of their personalities into the day. The first was a fun, layered flower cake that perfectly matched their colorful spring wedding palette. The second was a smaller ski inspired cake, complete with tiny characters skiing down its sides. Having two completely different cakes was such a unique touch and made the cake display feel so personal to them!

After dinner, speeches, and several special dances, the dance floor officially opened. Lindsey changed into a short, sparkly white dress and custom white cowboy boots. It was such a fun outfit change and the perfect look for the party ahead!

Then came the desserts and late night snacks. We served flower shaped fruit sticks alongside a cookie skillet station. Guests could choose their own toppings before digging in. For something savory, Salamander brought out several varieties of fries, onion rings, and mini sliders. Each was served in custom holders, making them the perfect little snacks to grab while dancing.

Once the reception officially ended, the party was far from over. We swapped the band for a DJ and kicked off a silent disco. Guests grabbed their headsets and continued dancing late into the night. For the after party, Lindsey & Nick changed into matching custom Jordans. The sneakers perfectly complemented their wedding color palette and their playful personalities.
