Hi everybody! My name is Cydney Washington. Welcome to my life.
I was born here in Loudoun County and have lived here ever since. I have an older sister and a younger brother, and the cutest little purple tailed puppy. My mom and dad have been married for almost 30 years, and we are such a tight knit family.
As a kid, I was filled with so much sass, spunk, and creativity. I have always loved crafting and just finding other ways to use my imagination. My mom loves to tell the story about how on my first day of kindergarten, she and my dad expected me so cry when they walked me inside, but I gave them a little wave, and turned around to strut away with my pigtails just swaying in the wind. Other than the fact that I no longer wear my hair in pigtails, nothing has changed. I was never the kid who knew what they wanted to be when they grew up, but I knew that whatever I did, it needed to fit in with my fun personality.
When I was in first grade, two other kids in my class told everyone they were going to get married, so being the child I was, I planned their entire wedding – all the way down to their wedding song, which was Flying Without Wings by Ruben Studdard that I was going to sing.
The actual reason why I wanted to get into the wedding planning industry was because I wanted to be a wedding singer. I have been singing my entire life. My mom is a singer, so we all grew up with music being a big part of our lives. I started playing piano when I was 8 and my sister started playing the guitar right before that. I love love, so my interest in weddings came naturally. So, the idea of a being a wedding singer just seemed like the perfect fit. After realizing that wasn’t going to work out, I figured I could just be a makeup artist and still be able to work with weddings, but back in 2016, when my uncle got married in Brooklyn, New York, I was able to be physically involved in the behind the scenes of the wedding day, and I knew automatically that planning weddings was what I wanted to do.
There are so many things that excite me about getting into the wedding industry. The hair and makeup, the beauty of the ceremonies, but what I am most excited for is to make so many long-lasting relationships with couples and other vendors. From what I have seen so far, this is such a close community of creatives and I can’t wait to be a part of it.
